You’ve still got game! Author Tim Forbes says retirement is a great time to rekindle your sense of play through recreational sports. But which sport is right for you? Something traditional, or maybe one of the newly invented games (think Pickle Ball or Foot Golf) now attracting seniors? Either way, indulging in Fun and Games can mean a healthier and happier retirement.

Since my wife and I have been married, we decided to do the very thing Tim recommends, and that is to DO rather than watch. So I grew up racing sailboats, so we started to race sailboats together (a sport that can be done for most of life). The side benefit of doing this, is that we keep in shape and keep our weight down (light sailboats go faster!). However, the down side can be the tension created at times sailing together as a married couple – at times I get to excited, and treat her like a ‘crew’ rather than a wife! But the benefits have been greater rather than lesser. Of course, this can be a sport that costs a bit of money depending how serious you are.

Great podcast and exactly what older adults should be doing–playing instead of watching. Thanks for sharing. Arthur Culbert, Urban farmer

Thanks Carol/Tim.
What fun to expand my thinking about sport options awaiting.
I can think of at least 6 friends who I know would love to be in the know.
