The question is common among retirees, stemming from a vague feeling of being left out, to an overwhelming dis-satisfaction with life. Part of the problem, according this episode’s guests, is that we’ve forgotten how to be elders.
Delmarie Gibney and Lucia Leck have banded together to facilitate various aging workshops in Conscious Aging. At one retreat called “Aging into a Higher Consciousness,” held at The Christine Center in northern Wisconsin, they focused on how older folks can reject agist stereotypes of decline and continue to grow, providing the examples of service and inspiration so needed in our troubled world.
